Kazakhstan

The Ascension Cathedral, also known as Zenkov Cathedral, is a Russian Orthodox cathedral located in Panfilov Park in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Completed in 1907, the cathedral is made out of wood but without nails. It stands 56 meters tall, and is claimed to be the second tallest wooden church in the world.

The Kök Töbe or Kök-Töbe, sometimes spelled as Kok-Tyube is a recreation area in Almaty, Kazakhstan, featuring amusement park attractions and restaurants. It is located on top of Köktöbe hill and connected to downtown Almaty by a cable car line, with the City Terminal near Hotel Kazakhstan. An iconic 372-meter-tall Almaty Tower stands at the foot of the hill, visible from most parts of the city.

The 28 Panfilov Guardsmen Park is an urban park near the Ascension Cathedral in east-central Almaty, Kazakhstan. The park honors the Panfilov's Twenty-Eight Guardsmen, 28 soldiers from an Alma-Ata infantry unit of the Red Army who reportedly died during World War II in the Battle of Moscow.

A tourist attraction popular with foreign visitors and Kazakhs, it is emblematic of the city, which became capital of the country in 1997.
